it´s a famous hotel in portugal and a historic place. So if u go for the history it´s a nice place. the point is that it is very expencive and so u expect more quality in the rooms. in my the azulejos were damaged and bathroom definately needs renewal. it s a specific place, cosy and full of memories, too... We stayed here for two days in December. The rainy weather probably contributed to the musty atmosphere. The staff were helpful and friendly but coudn't quite make up for the pervasive sense of neglect. The bizarre decor ( a bar lined with golf balls) didn't help. This hotel is definitely in need of an upgrade. More
