1 Aug 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

I stayed in room 206 on the second floor of the Residencial Horizonte for 3 nights in June 2009 on a city break with a friend. The twin room we stayed in was small, with the décor a little old-fashioned and tired. Having said that, the beds were comfortable and the towels and bed linen were changed daily. The television... more

The room was small but clean even though they'd obviously had problems with a water leak. Ask for tea or hot water (if you've got your own tea bags) at breakfast otherwise it's just coffee or chocolate. The staff were very friendly, but my partner's Portuguese so this helps. The bed was very small for two, my partner was squashed... more

Horizonte is a very moderate hotel. It's very basic, a bit shabby and worn out. But it's clean, functional and has a good location (subway station 'Parque' is right across the street). Very usable as a base to explore the city, assuming that you won't spend too many time in the hotel (the hotel itself has no facilities). more

We arrived pretty early in the morning off the overnight Lusitania train from Madrid and the gentleman at the desk made us reasonably comfortable while we waited for a room to become available (we had of course made a booking, which he confirmed). Within an hour, we were settled in our room (large-ish, twin beds, good bathroom, clean) showered and... more

A very last minute booking for two nights in Lisbon. I asked for a double room with a double bed - my room was very tiny I could not open the luggage on the floor. The most awful view from my window, hidden by a colorful curtain: on the 6th floor of the building, I got the ceiling with antenna... more

I only stayed at the hotel for a night, but it was excellent value for money, especially for European capital hotel! I did stay in off-peak period, and therefore there was no fighting involved when it came to the breakfast buffet! There was a wide selection of food, including cereals, hot milk and coffee, scrambled eggs and bacon, orange juice,... more

OK, so it may not be the Ritz but after my second stay at the Horizonte I wouldn't think of lodging anywhere else in Lisbon. Both of the rooms I've stayed in have been clean and well equipped (large comfortable bed, en-suite bathroom with powerful shower, air conditioning, satellite TV, hair dryer etc.), which makes this place a bargain for... more
