Myself and my girlfriend stayed at the Velamar at the end of March. We were booked in for a week but unfortunately had to cut our stay short by 3 days because my girlfriend's grandmother died. The hotel is situated not in Albufeira itself, but in a small bordering town Olhos de Água which is 5 minutes away by taxi (25 minutes afoot) from Albufeira’s best beach and main entertainments. Just back from a week in this hotel. We were delighted with the service we received in this hotel as the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Third time here. Fourth time booked. NEVER disappoints. Great value. Particular thanks this time to Adriano (best ever mohitos!) and Marcello (knowledgeable and kind). I have travelled far and wide but Velamar has something special. Big enough to offer comfort and luxury but small enough to have personal, family touch. Well done and many thanks to all the staff.

Vela mar is great as the reports say . Everyone who stays there loves it and loves the Staff , Oh and the breakfast, the breakfast room is at the top and has a great view. I stayed here with my wife for a 4 day break and choose it on the strength of the reviews I read and was not disappointed. Rooms are clean, staff are polite and very helpful. Breakfast was a continental style that was of a good standard. All in all very good for the price and would return again.
