This was a truly special place to spend my birthday. We arrived in the rain and were greeted by an umbrella-bearing, lovely gentleman. He gave us a tour of the chateau, and we were impressed by the carefully-chosen antiques and elegant furniture. Our room, one of three, had fantastic high ceilings, a marble bath, and real linen sheets. After dinner in town (just a short drive), we came back to enjoy the selection of ports left out for guests in the library. We met the owners, who were extremely hospitable and welcoming. Breakfast was again an elegant affair: salmon, Parma ham, fruit, pastries and much more, served to our table on beautiful antique china. The attention to detail in the furnishings is amazing and the owners went above and beyond in service. Our car had gotten stuck in the mud (our fault entirely), and they kindly towed it out for us.
