Hotel is quaint, very clean and well located close to Van Gogh and Rijks museums, and to a tram stop, at a very reasonable rate. Easy walking distance to Anne Frank, Dam Square and RL district. Stayed at the Hotel Kap for 3 nights in May. I have stayed here before so I am very aware of the stairs. The breakfast is fantastic, freshly cooked warm rolls (YUM) and a large selection of meats and cheeses, eggs, cereal, juices etc. The staff are very helpful and the bike hire for 10 euros a day is great.... more

Only stayed one night in the luxury room with bath - bathroom was not within the room but next door. Huge room with beds and sofa bed but 2 single beds instead of a double as requested. Dated decor but fitted with the building and makes a change to using chain hotels. Steep stairs, much easier going up than down!... more

We had an enjoyable stay at the Kap. Yes the stairs are a bit of a white knuckle ride and the room decor a little dated, but it does have a traditional Amsterdam house feel to it, that larger chain hotels don't.
