I will start with the positives. The main positive is location. Situated on the edge of Dam square Every Amsterdam tourist attraction is within easy access of the hotel. The staff are very friendly. The hotel was very old fashioned which is often a good thing but unfortunately not here . I didn't like the bedroom. It was very small.... More

The best part of this hotel is the location. It is situated just next to Dam square putting most attractions in easy walking distance. I don't know how many times we mentioned how much we appreciated this fact during our trip. Easy to to/from the central train station (10 minute walk along main street). Rooms were modern, clean and taken... More

We agree with you that our location is unbeatable Nearly every attraction in the city can be reached within minutes. Despite our 102 years of age, our rooms are modern because they were just fully refurbised. Our breakfast is not one with Champagne bottles and other nice items but the € 15.-- we charge is one of the lowest in... More

You would not know by the outside how good this is. I had a club sándwich And my friend had champiñón omelet. What a great choice. All very tasty And very smart surroundings. The waiter was very friendly. His name was Jose he seemed to be able to talk with every one no matter where they Came from. We enjoyed... More

A club-sandwich is also my favourite when travelling abroad and not wanting to have a heavy lunch. I was glad to hear that you enjoyed it and yes, Jose is doing his best to please everybody. He left some years ago to return to Portugal but we are very happy that he came back and joined our team. We hope... More

Rooms in this hotel are tiny by US standards. The Comfort Room is like a closet. I upgraded to a larger room for 30 Euros more per night. It was well worth it. The staff is very friendly, rooms are clean and new. The bed was 2 twin beds pushed together and there was nothing keeping them from coming apart.... More

That you enjoyed your stay made us happy but that you were overcharged by a taxi-driver made us feel ashamed. It is true that Amsterdam has a taxi problem. Not only are taxi's expensive but they also have some dishonest drivers who overcharge innocent tourists. The best sloution is to take the train from the Airport to Amsterdam Central Station... More

Stayed 2 nights. Took train from schiphol airport to amsterdam central, cost 3,80 euros single, what a bargain! The location cant be beaten and only 5-10 mins walk from the main station on the main road leading to Dam Square. Our room was ready early so they allowed early check-in and staff were always pleasant. Booked a superior room which... More

It was with pleasure that we learned that you had a pleasant stay. We shall look into the suggestion to have other pillows available. And yes, in this 102 year old building we have only one small lift which can hold 6 persons according to the sign in it. But 4 persons seems us to be a more reasonable number.... More

Firstly, this hotel is in a fantastic location, just off Dam Square and, although it is so central, it was very quiet in my room. The staff are exceptional, very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The hotel has recently been refurbished and is all very clean and modern and quite stylish. The rooms are small,... More

We thank you that you took the time to write a review and were pleased that you enjoyed your stay. As to the limited space for the clothes, our rooms were furbished bearing in mind that the average length of stay is 2 nights and many guests are travelling with a limited amount of luggage. We did not include drawers... More

I have given this hotel an average because of the bathroom which I think really let the hotel down. The first room which was given to us (302) had what can only be described as a broom cupboard for a bathroom, it was ridiculously small, no room to put anything out, put your towels or anything. When sitting on the... More

First of all I regret that you could not enjoy your stay to its full extend because of the small bathroom. Although our rooms look very modern, the building is 102 years old. At that time there were only 3 bathrooms per floor which had to be shared by all guests. Around 1953 private bathrooms became common and it was... More

This is an excellent hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. We had breakfast once and ate twice in the resaurant. The food and service was very good each time. Indeed, this winter was long and cold and even now, at the end of April it is still not as warm as it should be. The room you had has a nice view over the roofs and although this is one of the only 2 rooms where you have to climb the stairs, the room is very quiet at night... More

The hotel is located right next to the tram station at the Dam Square. It's within 1-minute to all tram line stops.
