Zermatt is expensive but for what we paid I'd rather have stayed somewhere more modern and in better shape. Location is ok as it's closer to the trams but don't like that it's further from the main part of town. More

Swiss family ran hotel. We stayed for 8 nights over Christmas and New Year. Staff and owners very friendly. Extensive good quality breakfast compared to many Swiss hotels. Family owned and run the Alpenblick is well situated for both the slopes and the town. Zermatt is a very upmarket place with gourmet dining and tempting ( expensive) boutique shops, so to find a reasonably priced hotel well positioned is not easy.
