I visited this hotel with my dad for a weekend while visiting Lucerne. Lucerne is very expensive so we chose this hotel for the value/location. The hotel's location is great - it's located in old town with lots of restaurants around and all the attractions within easy walking distance. The hotel is older and dated. We visited in October and it was unbearably hot in the room. We left the windows open throughout the day, but it was still very hot - especially at night. The hotel is clean however, and we REALLY enjoyed the breakfast each morning. They also offered a welcome drink when we arrived. Staff was very friendly and helpful too. However, the next time I am in Lucerne, I would opt to pay more money to stay in a hotel with climate control and that's a bit more updated.

It is an old but nice hotel with good atmosphere. It is located nearby all interesting places, in the middle of everything. Personal is really friendly. They have 2 buildings. The old one and the new one. We were proposed to stay in old building but it smelled so much so we couldn’t stay. Someone smoked inside and from window you can see nothing. When we asked to change the room there were no problem and we received a trim in the new building. It was very good with a nice view and no bad smell. Nearby there are a lot of cafes and restaurants so it is a really nice place to stay.

Comfortable single beds, room adequate of a little small. Balcony nice . Breakfast basic & not much for a vegetarian (myself) and just bread and margarine for my vegan daughter. The restaurant was out of bounds during the evenings as it was privately booked by groups. No English speaking TV in our room, despite being advertised as available. Reported this to the Reception staff. Natalie was exceptionally helpful with trip advice and is a credit to the hotel.

Excellent location ten minutes walk from central rail station. Good breakfast. Helpful staff. The biggest drawback was the lack of air con in warm weather. A fan was provided but it was too noisy overnight. The room was clean and tidy albeit somewhat dated. Nonetheless this was a good base for us in Luzern.

We stayed here for one night as part of our Grand Train Tour of Switzerland and one night was enough. The location is fine and in a quieter part of town, a 15 minute walk across the main bridge from the railway station and then a couple of streets back from the lake. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful and the breakfast area large (doubled as a restaurant), offering a good selection of cold options (didn't notice any hot food, but there may have been). The room though was disappointing. It was on the small side, with little space to put the suitcases. There was no fridge and no air con. On a hot and humid day and night, the small portable fan provided, did its best, but couldn't hope to cool the warm room. The pillows had no body to them and as with another room, the obligatory hot and heavy comforter was the bed covering. As we did with all such comforters offered at most hotels, we removed it from the cover and used the cover as a sheet. There are some restaurants close by, as are some attractions, but if returning to Luzern, we would have no need to stay here again.

This was the last stop of our Grand Tour of Switzerland by train. The hotel is in a very good location right next to the old town and steps to the lake and close to the train station. We had two single rooms booked, which were extremely small but that was expected for a single room in Switzerland. Price/performance was in balance for what you get. It is a simple, no frills hotel, but rooms were clean, breakfast had a good variety and staff was nice.

A solid 4.5. Great location. Close enough to the train station and attractions while avoiding the high price of the riverfront. Everything in the room was clean and in working order. We did not sample the restaurant for dinner, but the breakfast was excellent with plenty of options. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the unusual heat for the region rendered the room uncomfortable to come back to after exploring the city. AC is simply not found in most of the smaller hotels. In spite of that caveat, the one thing I truly hate is something that I find in too many hotels everywhere...the only bedding is a super hot and heavy comforter. In the middle of the ski season, that may work out well. But for a summer night where the low is in the 50s, its a poor option.

When we first arrived at Room 550 (top floor), we were a little disappointed, having previously come from a very pleasant alpine hotel. With its laminate floor and tiny bathroom, it was a little basic (think Travelodge in you are in the UK), but it grew on us. The bed was the comfiest we'd had on our journey through Switzerland, although the pillows were soft, flat and offered no support. (It seems pillows in all Swiss hotels are the same). The shower was the best we've had for a long time, and we had a full sized bath. Be aware that there is no kettle or fridge, but there is a free safe to use. It was so quiet at night - no loud noises, human or traffic, even though the hotel overlooks a busy junction, and is just around the corner from the main shopping street. The door onto the small balcony effectively kept out all the street sounds. Breakfast was very civilized, held in the hotel's evening restaurant. Not the most massive choice, but everything we had was lovely. Generous window for breakfast too, from 7-10am. The hotel is less than 10 minutes' walk from any major sight, be it the lakefront, chapel bridge, castle walls or lion monument. If you want a no-frills value hotel in good location, you might want to consider this one.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the side street, not the main junction. It will be quieter and you...

Quick one night stay here. Room was very clean with good beds. Windows open wide for fresh air. Had a fan in room which helped greatly in the heat. Bathtub very narrow with high sides and slick on bottom. Had to be very careful not to fall.

Great experience at a beautiful hotel. The staff goes out of its way to offer excellent customer service. Special kudos to Manuela. Try to get a lake and Mountain View room. Breakfast is pricey (25CHF), but nearby patisseries offer far cheaper options.
