THe hotel is just a couple of blocks away from NVM train station. so that will save some money instead which might have to spend in and out of florence. in / near to historical centre you can quickly run back whenever needed etc.
service is professional and helpfull staff.
room clean and basic (funny TV though very small) :-)

This hotel is a very good option for budget travellers. Often offers lowest deals on the internet main gateways. Very close to the Florence main station Santa Maria Novella. Service is simple and professional. You can walk to the city center and main attractions. Nice to walk until the river and make all the riverside.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Rayan in Sept 2009. The location of the hotel was great. It was a 5 - 10 min walk to the middle of downtown Florence. The main train station was also just across the street. The price of the room was also good. We paid $69 Euro (about $100) per night.

We with our two young children stayed for two nights during May 2008 for Florence tour.
Surprisingly florence hotels are costlier than Rome.
Advantage is close to S.M Rail station, walkable within 5 min.
Recetion (lady who is running this hotel) is good.
Break fast room and the breakfast itself was above average.
There is no lift, took the luggages...
