while touring southern tuscany booked a flat at the Borgo Il melone. they have small apartments and hotel rooms, tried their cooking school which was a delight. The staff could not have been any kinder if they tired. Got to peek into the owners private chapel. It was super. Minutes from cortona, Lago TRasimeno and wine country. More

Couldn't have chosen a better place to stay in Tuscany. Beautiful facility. Great breakfast (extra charge--worth it!). Very clean, nice pool, nice restaurant, beatiful grounds. Extra helpful staff. Laundry facilities available. For some unknown reason, our GPS could not locate the place. More

We had a magical stay at Il Melone at the end of August. The hotel is 5-10 minutes down the hill from the center of Cortona. The hotel & grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. Rarely saw grounds maintenance people, but the grounds were immaculate and the grass trimmed yet soft and velvety. Was able to relax and unwind, and forget... More

This hotel is more of an agriturismo, with many acres of flowers, a small vineyard, and fruit trees all around, and several renovated buildings on site. As you drive up to the hotel, you are greeted by a driveway lined with flowers and cypress trees. The hotel itself is cozy, immaculately clean, and invitingly decorated with warm Tuscan colors and... We did not have a good experience at Borgo il Melone. Part of it was due to coincidence and our unfamiliarity with conditions in the region. If it had been just that, I would have rated this property higher despite our experience. However, I also don't think we were treated particularly well and so I think others should know more... More

Borgo Il Melone was one of the better places we have stayed in our 20 years of traveling in Europe. It felt a little like we were guests at someone's private estate. The beautiful buildings and grounds and pool were clean and modern, but one could also sense the deep past of a property that has been around for a... More

I needed a two day stop between Florence & Rome to get my daughters some "pool time" between the touring. Two main reasons I chose Il Melone was the beautiful pool that advertised snack bar(Im thinking this is great for lunch since I didnt have a car) and the spa/painting/cooking class services they advertised. True, I did not book ahead... More

We stayed in this hotel only for one night. On arrival, the staff we amazingly helpful and friendly, offering to help with restaurant reservations and any other queries we had about the area and cortona. They even helped us plan our route back to Rome with a stop in magnificent Orvieto before our flight home. The hotel grounds are beautiful,... More
