We stayed in A Venice Fish because we wanted to be within the city of Venice. That said, this hostel was less than great. It took us about 45 minutes of walking around/searching, and ultimately the help of another backpacker to find the place--no markings or signs at all. When we finally got in (the buzzer wasn't working, and the... More

I went to Venice for 3 nights with a friend and this hostel made our stay amazing. They had overbooked us, but Dan and Angus's expertise in the matter got us an en-suite room in a high-class place with a king size bed, still paying hostel prices. The staff are really nice and definitely put customer service at their highest... More

Just got back from staying at The Venice Fish and it is in a great location in the center of Venice and the price is very reasonable if you are traveling on a budget. Apparently they are not allowed to serve free dinner anymore but we met some great people there and had some sangria and enjoyed our time there.... More

The hostel is not too close from Santa Lucia station but it's away from the hustle bustle of tourists and if you follow the directions given, it's pretty easy to locate given that there is no board or sign. Nice that they've a free dinner - its pasta and not the best - but well it's not so bad considering... More

Where do I even start? Best way to describe it is trying to sleep at a house party of someone you have never met. Check in took 4 hours - I had forgotten my passport because I live in Italy and usually just use other forms of ID. The guy running the place (not the owner, who we never saw)... More

Over priced, the only thing included was a free pasta every night which was pretty nice. Took us ages to find it as there is no sign indicatiing that the hostel is infact where it is. Showers were crap, no hot water at all. Probably wouldnt stay there again but it is in a good location. More

First of all they don't even have a sign outside so it takes you hours to find it. then there is a lock out period from 10 to 2 where you aren't even allowed in the hostel. worst shower of my life too, water was cold and barely any coming out! very average for the high price More

While interrailing with a friend of mine through Europe, we booked hostels just days before arriving. Venice is a popular and expensive city with a lot of tourists. The days we wanted to stay there, it also had a so-called Lightning Festival what made the city extremely crowded. This made it almost impossible to find a place to stay. After... More

One of the best hostels i have stayed at ! Its not the biggest or the most modern, but a great place to meet people and socialise. The free pasta dinner (which is pretty darn good) around the big table in the dining hall with the other backpackers is a great time to chat with people before heading out to... More

Maybe if enough people mention the bed bugs it will get them to sort their act out? This was indeed a very social and friendly place to be with books and games and great folk hanging around to talk to. Cool to have a free pasta meal every evening too. BUT my bed (in the smaller dorm through a much... More
