The Hotel Astoria is an acceptable property, nicely located in a central Cremona area, with rooms and baths of a good size. Recent renovations have nearly obliterated any shabbiness that might have crept in with age. The attitude of the desk staff, however, nearly ruined any good impressions that the property itself made on us. Carefully chosen based on the... More

Because of my late arrival in town I had no more time to shop around and this was the first hotel I found open. It is on a small side street in the centre, but well signposted. Front desk staff was polite but not friendly. My room was reasonably sized, given it was a double room for single use. It... More

Hotel Astoria is hidden down a quiet street midway between a residential park where locals hang out, and the main squares with restaurants, tourists, etc. Literally 2 blocks from the main sights. Cremona is a lovely small town to relax for a day, and makes a good base to explore nearby tourist-laden Mantova without having to stay there. The restaurants... More

Stayed here several days in May '11, loved the location. Hotel is plain, older, on a side alley, just off the Piazza Stradavari. Great location for visiting the violin makers, the Stradavarius museum, the Cathedral & for sitting in the lovely Cathedral square evenings people watching. More

While the hotel is situated in a great central location, our room was disappointing. It was nothing like the rooms pictured on the hotel website or booking.com. It was outdated and even the vinyl folding chair was ripped. We kindly asked to change to a room as pictured on the website, but the receptionist said it was not possible because... More

First a note: the Astoria mainly has recently-renovated rooms. The older rooms are perfectly OK and offer no problems. The older rooms are still excellent value at this low, low, low price. But the new rooms are really amazing at this price, the newer rooms are incredible value. First of all, Cremona is the place to be. This is the... More

The directions from Venere didn't go far enough so we wandered around too long. The hotel entrance is actually in an alley off a busier pedestrian street. Once found the location is great! Hotel staff very friendly and the decor of the hallways really charming with floral painted doors. Rooms are simple but all one needs and bathrooms good. We... More

I spent a night in Hotel Astoria, October 12/13, 2010. The hotel has a premium location, effectively two steps away from the Cathedral. From my window I had a beautiful view of the torazzo. Easy access to the train station also, buses stop nearby, in Piazza Roma (no need for buses unless you have luggage, historic Cremona is small and... More

Lovely hotel with lots of character and old world charm, but a very high-tech shower! Conveniently situated in the Old Town. Great coffee with breakfast. Despite a rocky start with the first booking agency cancelling our booking, this was a highlight of our 4 month trip. Thanks to Emannuella's proactive help the booking difficulty was sorted out. Without her help... More

This lovely hotel just steps from the Piazza Duomo was a wonderful surprise. Most of the staff does not speak English but the friendly and helpful attitude is wonderful. The rooms and hallways are elegantly decorated. The rooms are a bit small but spotless and very new. More
