Just what I was looking for. Smallish (so guests aren't just numbers), a bit different (because it's so old), ideally placed for the station, the bus station and trams (the historic Opicina tram leaves from in front of the hotel), and with exceptionally helpful staff on the front desk. Close to the train station, certainly a much less sketchy locate than being near the station in, say, Rome or Naples. The first floor rooms are more traditional, clean, spacious. (I believe the upper floors are more of a modern design). The staff were warm and helpful. Free wireless. A pleasant walk down to the canal. More
