If you are looking for the perfect location, atmosphere, and ambiance, then this is your spot. Located directly on the Piazza Unita D'Italia, the Grand Hotel Duchi D'Aosta is the perfect spot from which to explore the city of Trieste. Checking in was surprisingly simple by car. There are temporary parking spots located directly to the side of the hotel... More

If you’ve ever been a member or a guest of a British Military (or Commonwealth) Officers’ Mess then you’ll appreciate the dilemma of this hotel. It is a real dichotomy, as it struggles to balance the values, traditions and standards of a bygone age with that of a modern hotel. Does it manage it, no, not really. You are paying... More

Nice old athmosphere. Seems to be in good condition. Excellent location in tourist centre and close to harbour area. Traffic sound can disturb! Very good breakfast for my taste. More

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Duchi d'Acosta and really enjoyed the Past. An early surprise was the matter of Keys. We were not given an Electronic Key but a Key to the Room dating back to the early times of the Hotel. The Key even had a Tassel, which at a time was probably a very Receptive and Respectable... This was a back-up solution, for the Savoia Excelsior was fully booked. I was confident, as signs all over Trieste advertised The Grand Duchi as the only other 4-star property in town. I was put off when stepping in the lobby, as the style could not have been more different. This was looking ... old style. But OK. Nice welcome... More

I apologise for the issues you raised. I will take measures so that they are not repeated. I feel it necessary to inform you that also during the most recent renovation, we sought to keep intact the Mitteleuropean atmosphere and charm which the architect Geiringer (also creator of a world famous hotel in Vienna) instilled in this building on 1873.... This is a charming gem of a hotel in a superb location. The rooms (at least those, like ours, facing the quiet, gorgeous, large pedestrian square the hotel occupies)and the public spaces have an understated elegance and aura which we think of as quintessential northern Italy. Harry's Bar, the hotel restaurant, provides nice space (inside or out in good weather)... More

The room offered what was expected. I appreciated the vintage furniture. Plenty of amenities, including bathrobe and slippers (don't expect a toothbrush though). Abundance of towels and house keeping twice a day. A small chocolate left in the room by the housekeeper at the evening, including the one free bottle of water every day, added to the comfort of the... More

You get what you pay for at the Grand Hotel Duchi d'Aosta in Trieste - that's to say, it's expensive but it's stylish, welcoming, comfortable, historical and perfectly positioned on the great piazza, one minute from the sea front. The breakfasts were terrific and truly relaxed. We didn't eat in the hotel's Harry's Bar at night. Far too expensive (and... More

We stayed here 5 nights. As far as customer service, there is none. At the hotel bar you have to try and call somebody so you can get served and the same goes for paying somebody or re ordering. The reception has no customer service at all . We learnt not to ask any questions and just went to our... More

My boyfriend and I took a short trip to Trieste and stayed here; I could not have asked for a more perfect few days. I contacted the hotel ahead of time to inquire about a spa for massages and they responded within the hour giving me two places to choose from with all the information. Once I picked the place,...
