I found this hotel in a Rick Steves book. I can't say that I would recommend it to anyone. While the location is very good for exploring Rome on foot, I think better accomodations can be found for the money. The hotel and its furnishings have a worn look to them. Examples: The stairway needs a good cleaning, especially the... More

This hotel is a 5 minute walk to Central Stazione. The location is great. The restaurants around the area are very good. The hotel is a bit old and looks a bit run down, but it has all the facilities and our stay Hotel Selene was very comfortable. We could walk to all the main attractions, Colosseum and Vatican and... Stayed at Hotel Selene with my parents in April, 2012. Picked it because of location, reviews here on Trip Advisor, and price. It was a quick walk from the train station and not a problem with our bags. The staff was friendly, especially the gentleman working when we initially checked in. He allowed me to practice my broken Italian and... More

Just wanted to point that the refurbishing works of the common areas are already started and will take place all through summertime. We are very confindent that this is not going to affect... More

Right near the centre of Rome. Large room with nice bathroom. Only downside was that it smelled slightly of cigarette smoke. Continental breakfast was awesome and staff helpful. Stayed January 2011. More

Excellent value, centrally-based hotel within walking distance of metro and buses. Good breakfast choice, no evening meal but several restaurants nearbye. Don't go to the one they recommend, expensive. Recommend you seek out Est! Est! Est! in a side street close bye, friendly family-run piazzeria with good food at a reasonable price. A couple of drawbacks - no tea-making facilities... More

It's so lovely when the advertising matches upto your expectation of a place. It really is only a few minutes walk from the Termini station (which is the main & largest train station) travelling light with wheeled bags helps the trek to the hotel over the cobblestone pavements) It's so central, the Republica metro is only a 3min walk away... This is an ideal location for exploring Rome. It's just a short walk down the street to the large square (Piazza dei Cinquecento) where hop on-hop off buses pull in, and the Rome railway station is located (Roma Termini). Fabulous! Lots of restaurants within easy walking distance, too. The hotel itself is probably a little dated but this didn't deter... More

Me and my wife just spent a week in Rome and stayed in Hotel Selene. We found the location ideal to explore the eternal city and some surrounding towns (we went to Frascati, Castel Gandolfo & Tivoli) since it is a short walk away from 'Termini', a train, metro and bus station. Also close by are shopping areas such as the... More

Dear Karl T, thanks for your feedback and for having a good time at Selene! Let me answer your suggestions: 1) We are considering one good solution for "hot drinkable water" (we used to have it until last year but it was removed), so I guess we will find a new option soon! 2) Refurbishing and polishing works of stairways... Pros. 1. Got upgraded to a superior room with PSP. TV was damn big. 40 inch i believe. But i never played any games. 2. Clean and spacious toilet. 3. Big and comfy beds with fluffy pillows. 4. Dear Undertraveller, Thank You very much for enjoying your stay at Selene! I will not discuss the Pros but I am grateful for you word of appreciation. Let me go step by step: 1) " No hot water boilers for hot drinks at night. Should at least have a hot water dispenser at a central area." It's a good idea!... More
