It was just magical waking up to the singing of visitors on the night before Christmas. It was truly magical. We stayed at the Columbus Hotel steps away from the Vatican. We were able to open the window and listen to the midnight Mass and wake up with enough time to have breakfast and still get a nice position in... More

The hotel is located on the street leading directly to St. Peter's. The building was built around 660 ad and is owned by the Vatican. The rooms are large, although as with most 3 star hotels the furnishings are dated. We were not impressed with the breakfast - we felt it was over priced for a limited selection of continental... We stay at the Columbus Hotel whenever in Rome. From some some of the rooms, you cen see the lit dome of St. Peter's through your window. It's just a block away from the Vatican, and is an ancient palace with large, lovely rooms, an elegant breakfast buffet that you can enjoy indoors or outside in their enclosed garden courtyard.... The location so near to the Vatican is great; you can't help noticing Saint Peter's as you leave the hotel through the front gate. A nice historic hotel that holds a lot of interest, especially perhaps the Veranda restaurant and bar with the faded frescoes and a mixture of nuns, tourists and church wardens. Don't expect large rooms, large beds... More

The hotel is situated in the front of St Peter. 5 minutes walk to the entrance. An old building, the doors and windows protect you from wind but you here all noise from your neighbors, the street and even from the bathroom above yours. Not really relaxing times. More

The good news - this hotel is 100 metres from the Vatican and the common areas are quite regal. Great restaurant serving gourmet fare! The bad news - my room was like a monks room - very small, and sparse, lacking any charm - certainly unlike the august common areas of the hotel More

Arrive to Rome Int. Airport. Took the train to the Termini, took the Metro to one of the stations close to the Vatican, and arrive extremely tired. Great surprise on the location of the hotel, better than I thought, great rooms, great service. Will be back soon More

I was very pleased with the Columbus. Although our double room was small, the twin room we had booked for our nieces was very large. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, even to the point of looking up directions to a restaurant to which they were unaware. I would use the Columbus again, especially for anyone wanting to be... More

Myself and my wife stayed at this hotel for four nights to celebrate our thirty-fifth wedding Anniversary, we'd stayed there five years ago for the same reason and at that time wew were very pleased with the accommodation. The hotel is a former Cardinals Palace dating back to the 1490's, it is undoubtably a building of real character with what... More
