We arrived in Rome after a very late flight from LA and a non existent transfer from Rome airport, so when we finally found a mini bus and arrived, it was late, we were tired. We also didn't realise that checkin was at the Hotel Oxford, about 2 streets away, which we didn't have the address to. Luckily the Cabbie knew the hotel. Bad start in Rome.
Late at night, with graffiti covered shutters over the shop windows beneath the apartments, we anticipated the worst.
What a surprise when we got there. We had a 2 bedroom apartment in a quaint refurbished building, marble floors, effective airconditioning (needed in 36 degree heat), 2 clean modern bathrooms, a kitchenette and whilst not in the absolute centre of Rome, was right near bus stops and a 10-15 minute walk from metro stations at Termini or Repubblica.
