We spent nearly two weeks in Rome for our honeymoon and chose Vicolo di Roma because it fit our budget, advertised English speaking and family owned and had availability for all nights.
The hotel told us that all rooms had AC and that they were located within a 5 min. walk from the Spanish Steps and very close to many restaurants.
We were very disappointed. The AC was centrally controlled and kept at 86 degrees. We both woke up in the middle of the night covered in sweat. The rooms all have windows onto the street however Via Sicilia is a major bus route and near a major highway so it's very noisy. The beds were less than comfortable and the amenities were sparce.
The Spanish steps were a good 20 minutes away and it's an uphill walk returning at the end of the day. There are some restraurants near by but most close early. The nearest Metro stop is at the Spanish Steps and the closest bus stop is just as far as the steps in the opposite direction.
