The location is great with a short walk to all the main attractions. Not maybe exactly "in the middle of it", but in my view that a positive and not a negative as it's a bit quieter that way. The service is/was friendly, but a tad too "manana" (later, don't hurry). More specifically efficiency and fast service does not seem... More

Spent 3 days at Las Cortes in May13 with wife and kid. The room was decently sized with enough space for the cot and without interfering with passages etc. King bed, good sheets, but could be a disappointment if you are expecting one of those ultra soft mattresses. It is on the hard side, but you can't please everyone. Also... More

Old world elegance, close to the Prado Museum, in quiet back street steps from Plaza Santa Ana. This is an elegant, old-fashioned hotel with pleasant service, big-enough rooms and is very quiet at night. The internet is weak and unreliable (we found this to be so everywhere in Spain). Plaza Santa Ana -- steps away - is lovely, especially at... More

Catalonia is very well located: in a relatively quiet area, yet lively bars are around the corner. On Placa Sta Ana, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol for the standard tourist experiences, but the streets around Calle del Prado/Calle Leon also offer classy local bars and restaurants. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from all 3 big museums (Prado,... More

After many trips to Madrid, and many stays in the vicinity of Puerta del Sol, we finally decided it was time for a change.... to a quieter but still convenient location. Trip Advisor gave this hotel a high rating. Alia, in charge of group reservations (there were 14 of us!) was professional and a delight to work with. Check-in went... More

Early April 2013 was my second stay at Catonia Las Cortes, and again, I experienced this wonderful intimate hotel (the first trip was with my 18 year old daughter in 2012 for 7 nights, and most recently with my 77 year old mother for 8 nights!). It is located on a side-street with limited traffic, so relatively quiet and good... More

Stayed at Catalonia las Cortes for 5 nights. The location is perfect, in the center, the desk service efficient and very helpful - especialy young lady Esther. No need of public transportation, near to all important spots : museums, piazzas, good restaurants, park, night life. Pillows for a dogs. Dirty bed linen (hairs) and no aeration in the room at all. So it smells as a toilet inside. Poor WiFi. Overpriced significantly. I left the hotel after one sleepless night... Sorry but I would never recommend it to anyone. When I said that I want to leave them immediately, they even did not ask why...... More

Stayed here for two days at the start of our 11 day trip to Spain and the night before our flight. This hotel was like coming home. We had a little hitch to begin with, they had placed us in a tiny attic room with no natural light. We asked to be moved and were promptly shifted to a lovely... More
