I have stayed here twice. Both times I had the cheapest single room at the front of the building, facing the street. The manager is a nice guy, but he is rarely around. On my second stay nobody was there when I arrived, and I had to wait around a while. Once you get settled it's a great place though.... More

Rooms were very clean. Great location but unfortunately very noisy. Suggest considering purely to rest your head. More

Stayed here at a small double room facing the street (facing the noisy Santa Ana direction). Our bed is small for a couple. And we did get annoyed by the noises in the late night. So which room and rate one will get did contribute to the non-uniform ratings people posted here. I feel the hostal may be understaffed and... More

The hotel is located a few floors up from the main floor and climbing the staircase leading to the hotel is an experience, with it's oddly spaced and warped wooden stairs. The decor inside the hotel is kind of quirky. Julio, the man who runs the hotel, is very helpful and informative. He has designed his own map of the... More

We stayed in the King Alfonso XII room which had its own bathroom. It was a nice quaint room and was greta for our three nights in Madrid. The hostal is close to del sol and the metro. It had free wifi and the room was of average size. The owner was freindly and gave us a map with some... More

Our room was small and simple but adequate and clean. The building is a bit odd to be honest but very charming. Almost makes you feel as though you're wandering around a museum of sorts. The owner/manager while not overly outgoing was friendly and happy to accommodate requests and answer questions. Share bathrooms were very clean and the place was... More

When I made the reservation I knew my plane was to arrive late in the evening. Julio, the hotel owner, was so kind to wait for my arrival. So a better start of my vacation is not imaginable. The hotel has a very nice atmosphere because of the colors and the scent of incense; just as a vacation should be... More

I'm staying there now. It has 2 types of rooms - basic sleeps with shared bathrooms (very clean) and rooms with private bath. If you just need a place to crash, it´s fine. But you need to contact Julio by email because he is rarely around to answer the phone. I stayed there 2 days in mid March and then... More

A pleasant hostal in an excellent location, but I had the same experience as another reviewer - the staff played loud dance music that was impossible to block out. If it wasn't for the noise, I would rate this hostal higher (I was in the single/superior room featured on the website - small but fine for one person). More

This hostel is in a great location in Madrid and you can expect to find clean rooms and bathrooms. The one drawback is that the doors are loud and the sound can easily keep you up at night. Also, we were a little annoyed to find that the night staff keeps their radio/TV on loud at night - so much... More
