The Wellington is very centrally located, "within walking distance of the Prado and the Reine Sophia modern art museums", kitty-corner to the Park de Retiro (Madrid's very nice and beautiful version of Central Park). We stayed at the Hotel for 3 nights and had a wonderful time in Madrid. The metro was nearby and made our getting around very easy. Bought a 10 pack ticket and used it a lot. Liked the Hop On/Off bus and it took us everywhere day and night. Got some spectacular shots of Madrid at night ... a little... more

I went to Madrid for a concert at the Palacio de Deportes De la Comunidad and chose this hotel for convenience. It is within walking distance and the area feels safe. The reception staff spoke English and were lovely. Although I had booked a single room it was spacious and I didn't feel as if I'd drawn the short straw.... more

I always stay at the Wellington.. This stay was a few days longer than prior visits. Once again I received great service, a wonderful room and an amazing bathroom with a multi level spray shower. Also check the rates if you think you can't afford the Wellington. I paid a lot less than the "average price" figure used here. more

I was impressed with the Wellington. Great location, nice amenities, helpful staff. I liked the location, which was about a 15 minute walk from the Prado. Good breakfast, with fresh squeezed oj, and nice selection of meats, cheeses, pastries, breads, etc. Good coffee. They also have a Nespresso machine, if you like making your own espresso. Stayed at The Wellington for 3 nights with my wife in July. We chose this hotel because it is only one of 3 in Madrid with a pool. Unfortunately the pool was closed for refurbishment though. The hotel was very easy to get to from the airport - the instructions provided on the hotels website were perfect. Check in was quick and easy. The rooms are fabulous, breakfast is gorgeous and the staff are friendly with excellent english. Rooms were immaculate and luxurious. We stayed at the Wellington two times for 2 nights each early July 2009. The service was excellent, the breakfast superior and the rooms were well appointed and clean and had great beds.
