This hotel is a five minute walk from the main Atocha train station, so the location is ideal for someone planning to take a day trip to Toledo or planning to leave for anywhere else by train. It is also very close to the Museum Reina Sofia which has an area of cafes and restaurants in front of it. I... more

Booked through Expedia at $104 per night. Good price and a five minute walk to Atocha train station. Older 4* property but nicely appointed with paid internet access in lobby and wireless access in rooms but 17.10 Euro for 24 hours. Good sized room with 2 twin beds, decent bathroom. TV had CNN, BBC world news, Eurosport, and MSNBC in... more

This hotel is within walking distance of all 3 major museums. Also 2 blocks from a stop on the hop on hop off Madrid Vision Bus tours. Has a mini fridge in room recently remodeled with a beautiful bathroom and very large room. Can walk to a supermarket within 1 block. Great value and location. Also has numerous cafes and... more

We stayed at the Carlton for a few days and loved it. We used to stay at the Preciados but their prices have shot up and they didn't have any rooms. So we tried the Carlton and can say that we found a gem. The room was every bit as modern, clean and well appointed as the other hotels but... more

Got a brilliant deal through EasyJet - flights, taxes and two nights at the Carlton thrown in, all in for £267.50 for two of us! So worth checking for deals before booking. Given the incredible deal, suffice to say breakfast wasn't incuded but we were happy to grab brekkie along our way to sight-seeing. Hotel is close to two metro... more

This hotel was a great value. There were three of us, so we booked 2 rooms, each about $75. Parking is in a convenient lot around the corner, about $12 euros. The location is good for the Reine Sofia and Atocha, about a 20 minute walk to Puerta del Sol and 15 to Prado. The rooms were small, but clean... more

Our choice for this hotel in Madrid was based on a combination of the reviews here on TA and the price (EUR 80 per night including breakfast and taxes) and we were not disappointed. Guided by previous posters' comments we asked for a quiet room on a higher floor and were given room 710. Unlike most other standard rooms this... more

This is a pretty safe bet. I stayed here twice and was satisfied both times. The rooms were spotless, the bathrooms are large and clean. The staff was helpful. It's a little off the beaten path - a five minute walk from the train station, and about a 20 minute walk to Plaza Mayor. more

This was a choice without regret. It's rated 4 stars and I'd say it's worth all its stars with respect to european standard. I needed a hotel near Atocha station cos I arrived late at night by train. And this hotel is easy to find and only less than 5 mins walk from the station. I had good impression from... more

Spent a week at the Carlton in mid-July, temperatures were up to 39C - that's hot! That made the fully air conditioned hotel a terrific place to stay. Couple that with large rooms with very modern fitted bathrooms, lifts to all floors, within a short stroll of Atocha train and metro station and the Palos de la Frontera metro and... more
