Very centrally located hostal. Obviously for money paid one cannot expect five star hotel. The service provided was, however, a good value for the money. Linen changed and room clened every day, bathroom clean etc. More

A genuine 2/3 minute walk from Opera Metro Station and within easy walking distance of loads of Madrid's main attractions. The Hotel was very basic and up 2 flights of stairs but they are half way through installing a lift and the staff are very friendly. Would definitely stay there again. More

I stayed at the Hostal Mairu in Madrid for two nights in March 2008. Their booking website (www.bookassist.com) says they are located in a newly refurbished building. "Newly" might mean 15 years ago.
