I stayed for 2 weeks at the Rock in October. A hotel with a good reputation which was once the best hotel in Gibraltar. Not any more, whilst the location and views are good the hotel has a run down feel.
The decor and furnishing verge on poor and dirty and the service is not up to standard.Lack of menus...

An average stay. Room okay but could do with a makeover. The view was wonderful but the level of disturbance from the staff directly outside our room was relentless and completely unacceptable. For this reason, an otherwise very good hotel gets an average review.

The Rock Hotel is a truly stunning building; imminent refurbishment will further enhance its quality. The position with amazing sea views is perfect (quite a steep walk up from town, but there is a bus if you don't feel like the walk).

Spent a night in the Hotel after travelling down from Spain. Spent new year at the Rock with friends great night, the food and service was above reproach.

I can understand the good and some of the negative comments about this hotel. Yes it is run down, yes it needs a paint job, indeed a whole refurbishment - but you can really see the elegance this hotel must have once had. It is still the best hotel in Gibraltar, and luckily a bit of a refurb is planned....
