In the old part of town, spitting distance from the cathedral and skads of restaurants. Nice sitting areas on each floor and confortable rooms. Very helpful staff. I ordered a glass of wine, and instead of the usual tapa, the waiter brought over a bowl of stew he was very proud the restaurant was serving. It made for a meal. More

Had two glorious nights in this little haven right beside the Cathedral and the Tourist Office. For location you cannot do better, for comfort you will love it, for welcome and efficiency, they will not disappoint and for general satisfaction, this hotel ticks all the boxes. I would particularly mention the receptionist Christine who took care of some problems we... More

I stayed at the Hotel Rua Villar after finishing the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. Needless to say, I was exhausted and fed up with sleeping bags, rocky bunk beds and snoring. I initailly wanted to stay at the Parador next to the Cathedral, but walked into the cozy Rua Villar hotel on my way to the Praza do Obradoiro and... More

We stayed for three nights at the Rua Villar hotel. It's location is ideal - very close to the cathedral, restaurants and shopping. Our room was a deluxe category room with a large bathroom, sleeping area, and balcony sitting area. The queen size bed was a bit low for my 6'5" husband, but tolerable. The room faced a pedestrian street which... More

This small hotel is located on a pedestrian street just 1min walk from Santiago Cathedral. I stayed there after walking the Camino de Santiago - it's right opposite the Pilgrims' Office. The decor is very warm, mixing modern with old - lots of exposed stone walls, wooden surfaces, modern paintings on the walls, coloured glass roof... There is a small... More

After arriving in Santiago following 11 days of walking, we were delighted to happen upon the Hotel Rua Villar, having called in on spec. The hotel is very centrally located, and is very well maintained. The breakfast buffet was more than fine; staff were helpful and pleasant; and the rooms have feature stone walls. We enjoyed our stay very much. More

Beautiful little (14 rooms) hotel in front of the famous Santiago de Compostela cathederal, where the penitents end their walk across Spain to its doors. Dark gleaming wood, warm beige walls and subtle furnishings, great bathrooms, wonderful breakfasts and great service--and great prices. great for business or pleasure. More

This hotel is situated on the Rua do Vilar, one of the main narrow cobbled streets in the old town. The street is largely traffic free, especially in the evening. Our room (12) overlooked the street from a pair of balconies and this really brought the old town into the room. Noise wasn't a problem, however as there were a... More

I was in Hotel Rua Villar two nights, 20 to 21 April 2006. It is a small hotel made of a old house in the historic center of Santiago (very close to Cathedral), but with all the modern comfort: a wonderful room, with good furniture, LCD TV, Internet ADSL (it was important to me because I had to work at... I had visited Santiago in 2002 and stayed in the Parador but I considered it now to be overpriced. I found the Hotel Rua Villar (located in Rua do Villar, a few steps from the Cathedral) through a review in the NY Times. It is a lovely boutique hotel. My room (I think it was #13) was a double with... More
