We stayed for 4 nights at the Principle hotel, the location was excellent, just 2 streets from La Ramblas and just around the corner from the markets. we were very suprised to find such a lovely hotel at such a good price in the heart of the city. its a 2 star hotel that could be three star. the area it is in is a bit shady but we were never in the least bit apprehensive as you are so near to the fabulous la Rambla street.... more

The staff was nice, the breakfast was great and it was clean. It also has a very good location. The decor and feel of the hotel was more like a hostel, but it was much more expensive than a hostel. So, I just didn't see the value. If it was cheaper, I'd recommend it. more

Good location, close to the center of action; but off the main street, so it was quiet. Three computers in the lobby for internet access. location was good next to la ramblas, dock and beach also to the bus station if you fly from girona airport. dont ask hotel to call you taxi its more expensive. personal working there wasnt nice, misleading information and after having a problem with room since the air conditioning broke and the room was full of water we didnt get... more

Fabulously comfortable rooms. Just beware - you will be asked to pay for your entire stay on check in. And their check in time is 3 pm check out is 10.30am which is ridiculous ! The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the Rambla and underground station. The hotel is extremely central to all of the major Barcelona sites. The Principal is located just off the main high street - la rambla. It's just a few minutes away from the subway station, and around a 12 minute walk away from the airport shuttle bus station.
