A stay at Hotel La Almazara is certainly a mixed bag.
The pros:
- plenty of parking (free)
- stunning manor house (exterior) and grounds
- just 2km, leisurely 20 minute walk into the old city
- friendly staff
- rooms with a balcony have a good view of Toledo
The cons:
- paper thin walls between rooms (so don't...

Our travels in Europe invariably include covering a lot of ground, and staying in many types and grades of accommodation. "La Almazara" attracted our attention because of the advertised views of Toledo, the good reviews -- and all at a nice price. Too, we understood it to be the former summer residence of an archbishop, so we anticipated a possibly...

If you have a car and are comfortable being outside of Toledo, Hotel La Almazara offers an historic building with a courtyard, a quiet location well away from the road, and beautiful views of the historic center of Toledo. The service is friendly and helpful -- and the rates are a good value. If you want one of the 9...

Just a couple of km outside the city but having good views of it. A former Bishop's country house. Fairly basic rooms, but comfortable enough. Terrific value.

Was persuaded to stay here by a friend as a stop-over on my way to Marbella. Had previously stayed at the Parador which is a four star with amazing views. This is housed in a beautiful building with equally panoramic views and the staff are really helpful. It is basic. The bathrooms should be upgraded and the breakfast could be...

A very nice hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are simple, but have all you need (AC, bath, shower, good bed). Great view over Toledo. A slight disadvantage is the distance to Toledo: with 38gr Celsius is to hot to walk, but with a car there's no problem, with free parking available at the edge of Toledo where the road from...

We (two adults and a grown up daughter) stayed for one night in this hotel overlooking Toledo on our way to Segovia. Directions to the hotel on their web site are a little misleading as the map shows Madrid as being South of Toledo. We were coming from Cordoba and had no trouble finding the hotel as it is well...

Since 1969 I have visited, worked in, lived in Spain, in a variety of 'lifestyles'. In any category, at any price, I have never found such a poorly run hotel. Surly, even unplesant reception staff; dirty rooms; in fact, I felt that place was sinister and vaguely threatening. We were glad to leave without breakfast very early the next morning....

We chose hotels from TripAdvisor, and this one was also in many guide books. For good reason. La Almazara is not fancy, but it has the friendliness I remember from student hostels (over 30 years ago!). It is also incredibly convenient: Situated above the city but close to a main gate, we could park for free at the ancient gate,...
