After spending most of our time on Tenerife on the beautiful northeast coast, far away from the tourist industry, coming to Vilaflor and this hotel was a mixed experience.
There was no staff at the hotel when we arrived. There was a sign that said staff would be there at 1800 hours, but the manager did not arrive until half an hour later.
After checking in, we made our way to our room. The door lock was awkward to open, it seemed to be a cheap lock. A couple who checked in at the same time as us also noticed this.
Later that evening, after coming back from a meal in the village, we tried to open the door and the lock broke. We contacted the manager. I immediately noticed that he had been drinking alcohol. He said there was nothing he could do but to put us in another room for the night and contact a lock smith in the morning.
I told him this was unacceptable, that we would not pay for the room and that he had to open the door by force. He denied...
