Luxurious it isn't, but the Tryp Arenal is welcoming, clean, comfortable, and above all *convenient* (and after all, what more do you need on a short sight-seeing break?) The staff were friendly and fun to talk to, and their English was better than my Spanish. The location could hardly have been better: two minutes' round the corner and you're in... More

Reception people are outstanding : firendly, helpful and competant. The room was large and well equiped. Location in the old city is great. Noisy mainly on Saturday night because one window was difficult to sut down. Restaurant was diappointing, service was not very friendly, we were stuck at a small table between the wall and a column and were the... More

This hotel is a member of the Sol Melia group of hotels and I have been a member of their loyalty programme for several years. I struggled to give this hotel an "average rating" for several reasons. But its worst failing is the problem of parking. They do not have their own car park and have to use the closest... More

This hotel has an excellent location and kind staff, gives however an impression of uncleanliness and seems kind of old and tired. More

We stayed here as part of a Rick Steves tour. There were three of us, so we had one double and a single. The double was much nicer than the single I had. The paint was tired, the window opened onto an open shaft, and the AC didn't work at all. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. Of the five... More

Charming hotel. Located in the historic area (Casco Viejo) of Bilbao, near the beautiful pedestrian streets. The hotel is close to tourist attractions and it’s a pleasure to walk down from the hotel and Stroll the area on foot. Rooms are not luxurious but clean and warm and give a good feeling. At first we were offered a room in... More

My husband and I stayed here for vacation, chose the location for closeness to Old Town. We spent $122/night without breakfast. The bathrooms appear to be updated, but the rest of the hotel needs an overhaul. Good thing it wasn't overly hot during the day, the A/C only half worked and seemed to pull in cigarette smoke from the rest of... More

It is in a perfect location in the old town area. A couple of minutes from the Metro & opposite a park area by the river. Rooms are clean & comfortable-average size for european standards. Only 8 rooms per floor, so only one lift. Reception fairly small, staff friendly & helpful. Breakfast is not however standard Melia/Tryp international fayre. Breakfast... More

Great Location near Old Town. And even better staff. Not sure about management. We witnessed what appeared to be some quasi-misogynist behaviour towards female staff. More

The Tryp Arenal is nothing exceptional, no bells or whistles. but it is a very well located hotel with large en suite rooms that is very reasonably priced. Some issues with traffic noise, road works on the street and so on but apart from getting better sound proofing there is not much the hotel can do about that. More
