We stayed in the Mercure Hotel Leipzig Am Johannisplatz on our recent trip to Leipzig. It was a short walk to both the centre of the city and the train station. Free internet access was available on a terminal next to reception but it was rather slow.

Comfortable, clean, good location (for me anyway--close to the Gewandhaus) and did the job properly. I think the restaurant might be trying a bit too hard, but no serious issues there. Breakfast on the other hand was excellent. I am a big fan of Bircher muesli, and theirs is very good indeed.

We booked a double room at a reasonable price on the Net. There is a good space right outside the hotel for checking in and unloading luggage, and the hotel itself is easy to find.
