Modern, clean business-type hotel with great staff. Clean modern room with all amenities -flat screen TV, fridge/minibar, very comfortable beds (with a very warm blanket), including a bed for our 3-year old. In a quiet area - not in the centre but about 10-12 minutes walk to the Central Station, where the centre starts. Decent car parking garage at moderate... More

Very good night sleep, and power shower in the morning. There was a green light which was helpful early in the morning. We got a good recommendation for an Italian restaurant in short walking distance. Also a short walk from the train station (10 minutes). More

I stayed at the Mercure for a week while in Essen on a business trip. The hotel is centrally located to many of the local business offices (Like Siemens). The room was large and comfortable and had windows that actually open (a rarity these days). Breakfast was quite good as well. More

Rooms at the backside of the property, opposite the church, are very quiet. Streetside rooms are too noisy to keep the windows open. Non-smoking rooms were not available on check-in. WiFi is available for a fee. There is a laptop with Internet acess and a printer in the lobby, but a que forms so it's not reasonable for more than... More

Good: The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was very large and clean. The breakfast buffet had a large variety to suit all tastes. Bad: I tried to get a coffee in the afternoon, but the bar doesn't open till five. The reading light is built into the bed in such a way that you bash your head... More

Just stayed there for 2 weekend nights. excellent hotel, very good rooms, nicely decorated and very clean (by UK standards). Good breakfast with a nice terrace off the breakfast room. Friendly staff (especially Kataznya in the breakfast room) and very quiet hotel (though probably not during the week or during exhibitions? Didn't use the pool - put off a bit... More

We found this hotel while driving around Essen at 2.00am trying to find somwhere to sleep. The Night Manager who made the resetvation and checked us in was very courteous and professional as was the receptionist who checked us out in the morning. The room we were allocated was spacious, there was also a seating area with an armchair and... More

Episode 1. Even though I've reserved via A-club homepage which has all my personal information, the reception asked me to write address and other things when I check in. Why? Episode 2. Cuz one of the main reason of select this hotel was good swimming pool, I went the pool in the afternoon. But the pool in not in the... More
