The Kaiser Karl does have character which is always a good thing. Agreed, the rooms are small, but other than that there are not a lot of bad things you can say about the place. Staff is friendly, the ambience is slightly posh (but in a nice way), the little bar is surprisingly elegant, breakfast is fine. The location is... More

The hotel is located a bit outside of Bonn's center. It is also not that close to the river. Nevertheless, the interior is as you would expect a "Kaiser's" hotel to be. The rooms are clean, but small. Breakfast is quite ok and the stuff is very polite and helpful. All in all, I would not recommend to choose this... More

The Kaiser Karl Hotel was a wonderful experience. The ambience was a breath of fresh air. No, it was not the Hilton or another chain! It was beautiful, elegant ,and quaint. I liked that it was a 15 minute walk ot centre city. We walked thru residential areas and being from the US it was lovely to see the homes and... More

Generally the hotel looks very good, everything is following 'old style' and creates neat atmosphere. As mentioned in other reviews I agree that room size was smaller than usual, but I would still rate them as fully OK. The big problem I have is that this hotel does not make difference between smoking and non smoking rooms. It can easily... More

The clientele at this hotel were primarily business people while I stayed there. The location of the hotel is quite a distance from Bonn's main attractions, about 20 minutes walk to the main train station, 10 minutes to the U-bahn. Our room was very elegantly furnished, with gold faucets in the bathroom, marble tile, crown molding... Rich upholstery and drapery... More

Stayed for 1 night in June 07. Single room was quite small (room 41), bathroom was tiny. Had some issues getting the room fan to work (since there is no air-con), Ive a degree in Electronic Engineering but I couldnt get the fan to work. I mailed the hotel after the stay with my issues and they were very responsive... More

For a 3 star hotel, this place really had character - especially if you end up having to stay in an Ibis (there's one just opposite this hotel) so for 62 EUR including breakfast - a really plentiful buffet breakfast - it is a bargain! The hotel has style and the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful, the hotel is... More

This place is a gem. Beautiful gilted mirrors, delicate glass chandeliers, marble bathrooms, velvet bedspreads. The staff were wonderful, the breakfasts were marvelous. Only possible downside? The hotel isn't in the middle of the city, but in a semi-residential area about a 10 minute walk from the city center. More

My husband and I, our daughter, and her two children, were in Bonn on April 4, 2004, at 10:00 pm desperately looking for a hotel. Downtown near the railway station we saw an Ibis (budget hotel) and across the street was the Kaiser Karl, which was so elegant and beautiful we just knew we could not afford to check in... More
