Nice Hotel indeed, staff was friendly and rooms were clean and comfy... Brilliant breakfast! I would have rated Mercure excellent but location wasn´t so great, few kilometres away from city centre. More

This is an area that is not well known outside Germany. We were interested in the Hanseatic past, and the Baltic coast of Germany and Poland. It was also the place where the German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer had a seminary for the Confessing church in the 30s. By dint bof correcting our Satnav we eventually found it on the city... The Mercure Hotel is located on the edge of Greifswald in an industrial estate. It's fine for road access but rather a gloomy area otherwise. Looking at the surrounding buildings, I did wonder if they (including the Mercure itself) had been converted from old-style housing blocks although, admittedly, the conversion job for the Mercure was very comprehensive.
