During festival time, Bayreuth is usually fully booked. Thus, as I arrived at the hotel and was told that one of the rooms we reserved was left unfit for further use by the former occupants, I was very concerned. However, in the evening I got another room at the same inn, so that our party could stay together. The rooms are basic (as you would expect in a country inn), with baths or shower, some larger than others. The baths are clean, if showing some signs of wear (as did the carpet in my room, a room that was below the standard of other rooms in the hotel). The general impression is that of a two star hotel (I did not see any star-ratings on the premise).
The hotel itself is built in an old mill, and much of ths can still be seen in the dining room, which is nice and cosy. Service was extremely friendly.
