Spent one night at this amazing B&B: loved everything about it, starting from an ingenious combination of historic detail and modern conveniences, including a fantastic bed, with Society linens (the best bed during our 12 day trip to France and we stayed at some fancy hotels) and a great French breakfast served with home-made honey and jams by Odile while... Staying in a 400 year old hunting lodge is quite an experience, especially when your host is so knowledgable, articulate, helpful and down-to-earth. The house is beautiful and speaks of its history without being at all pretentious; the grounds are private, well maintained and so peaceful. The dogs were a delight. But what makes this place so memorable and recommendable... More

A lovely oasis, beautiful garden, charming old house. Odile is a very gracious, welcoming host. Her small dogs and cats are very much part of the household and are well-behaved. It is VERY quiet here, in spite of being in a busy neighborhood, because the house is well back from the street and surrounded by garden. We had the room... More

This is a marvellous place for a stay at Marseille. It is close to the city (10 min by car or metro), but Cassis, Les Calanques, Aix or Salon en Provence are easily reachable as the motorway is close. The other reviews talked already about the atmosphere and flair of the house, there is only little to add. The house... More

We have stayed this year at Les Acanthes for the 4th year in a row. We have been ecnchanted with this place from the first time on. It is a welcome oasis after spending a day, or morning in hectic Marseille. Very serene with a nice garden. Especially the apartment is recommendable, as it offers a living room, sleeping quarters,... More

Les Acanthes is a pretty and quiet hideaway just out of the city, you'll need a small car to find it, but once you are there, it is lovely, especially for dog lovers, think that there is a cat too.... I have a cat allergy so I was uptight about this as the little kitty is a friendly one, but... More

Hard to convey the real serenity and authentic beauty of Les Acanthes. Odile's intelligent and sensitive aesthetique extends to all aspects of caring for her guests; from beautifully appointed rooms and public spaces, to local olive oil-based soaps in the baths to simply elegant breakfasts, all wrapped up in her genuinely caring personality, staying at Les Acanthes is, in sum,... If you want to experience 400 years of French solitude and like old French houses, this place is for you. Odile, the owner, has ensured that nothing is out of place - no wonder the place feels like an oasis of calm in busy, bustling Marseille. Make sure you taste ALL the different honey varieties she has for breakfast -... More

This was a great place to enjoy a lovely, peaceful setting and Odile's warmth and hospitality is genuine. It allows you to recharge before heading out to the excitement and action of Marseille. Our room was tastefully decorated, very clean and spacious, had a generous ensuite and Odile made sure nothing was ever too much bother. She had lots of... More

Very charming chambre d'hôtes, absolutely fabulous! We loved the 400 year old house with the quiet garden and the relaxed atmosphere. Odile supported us in every way to feel comfortable and gave us a lot of information about Marseille. Excellent breakfast with homemade jam and honey varities! The metrostation St. Barnabe and a supermarket are nearby. We look forward to... More
