Have just returned from a stay in Menton at the Etap Hotel. Now I have to say that we have stayed at some top hotels around the world but still think that this is excellent value for money! Oh, Please DO NOT stay here if you're ever in Menton. It's really my fault I suppose. I was looking for an inexpensive place, since I knew we would be arriving late (11pm) and leaving early (8am), but still, it's not worth it. The room was, well, how do I put this, institutional. It is a cheapo hotel in pretty nice location ( the closest beach is 300 m to your right when exiting the hotel) .. if you just need a night in a fairly clean room with a pretty decent location and you bring you own shampoo .. you will be happy you get: smallish clean room with a double bed... more

A bit old and the cleaning ladies are not so good ;), but it has a very nice view (we have room from the street side). According to other hotels in this class in this area it's really ok. more

In the end we didn't stay in this hotel, as the reception made such a dismal impression on us. It was dingy and dirty, and the toilet was out of order. This is the first time we checked into a hotel using an automated machine located outside the hotel (self check in without human intervention). If you like Menton - and I adore it - I can thoroughly recommend the Etap Hotel opposite Menton Marina. The rooms are among the cheapest in town and the ones facing the marina have balconies.
