Stayed here for two nights - the girl on reception was always helpful, the breakfast was fine, well cleaned and generally felt safe. The location is about 20 minutes walk to the main town.
The food in the evening was awful though and after speaking to some other travellers, this seemed to be the general feeling.

A great place to stay, cheap and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Most rooms now refurbished to a high standard. A good location, close to La Rochelle and Les Minemes. Get the water bus to and fro to save the feet!

Great location between town (20mins walk along sea wall) and beach (10mins through marina) - bus and rivertaxi if you don't want to walk. Good hostel, newly refurbished, we had our own room with bathroom. The food is excelent (dinner) and the staff is friendly. Everything was new in the room and we felt relaxed. It is a bit far away from the town centre, but the walk to get there has a lovely view of the port. Bring your camara.
