Going thru old postcards and located one for Manoir du Carel. My wife and I, along with our 14 and 12 year old stayed 2 nights. We actually stayed in 1994. It was definitely out of our budget but we were extremely glad we decided to stay. The rooms were large and the beds were to die for. The food... More

Based on the recommendation from Fodor's and from many Trip Advisor participants, we chose to stay at the Manoir. I had many emails back and forth from the owner of this charming Manoir -- but here were the complications: From experience, I know that the traditional "double" bed is difficult for the two of us -- and so it took... Four months before our trip, we reserved the cottage at this "hotel". We were looking forward to a little more space after traveling around at a number of cities before this. We got to the hotel and the wife showed us the cottage. We walked in and there was bread on the counter in the kitchen. The wife quickly tried... More

We booked a cottage for 2 adults plus 2 children one month and a half before the holidays, and unexpectedly, after charging the resevation on the visa, and written confiration via email, they decided to cancel the reservation. Awful English that required a french speaking person to confirm 10 days before the trip, when we were told everything was fine,... More

My husband and I enjoyed a terrific 3 night stay at the Manoir. We had a little bit of a hard time meeting up with Jacques, and got in late, but he eventually met us at the TGV station and showed us where we could get a late dinner (Lowenbrau.) He provided us with several maps and advised us about... More

Our two-night stay in the adjacent two-story modern-furnished cottage was comfortable, quiet and charming. While a better bargain for a larger family or two couples, it was well located to further touring the region. We found very helpful to drive with most detailed Normandy road map on market. Once in tiny Maison, call Armond on cell who instructs you to... More

My family of 4--2 adults and 2 teenagers--stayed here for 3 nights in July. The property is beautiful and relaxing, but is very close to both Bayeux and the coast. It is close enough to Bayeux to pop in just to pick up fresh pasteries for breakfast but is a great escape from hustle and bustle as well. Port au... More

Great place right in the heart of Normandy. The host is fabulous and speaks very good English. He is very willing to map out sight for you, give you detailed directions, and plan your day. His suggestion are right on. The breakfast was lovely and much time was put into our meal by our host and his wife. Rooms are... More

A terrific place to stay to explore the Normandy coast. Close to Caen, but in a fantastic small town. The owner's enjoy showing you around their home and property. They serve one of the best breakfasts we had our whole trip. Hosts even showed us where to have dinner that was excellent and close by. You can't go wrong by... More
