The Excelsior Hotel is an old hotel really just steps away from the entrance to the area of the cathedral and grotto. The front desk staff were all very pleasant and kind and spoke good English. Reception, Nicolas and colleages friendly, spoke fairly good english, but ok as I speak fluent french, Room dated but spotlesssly clean except for water stains in ceiling (under roof) corridors peeling wallpaper. Rated as 3 stars, its 1.5 to 2 stars at best (on a good day). Great location and very courteous front desk staff. However the rooms leave much to be desired. Very stuffy, and cramped. Dated everything, Beds old and uncomfortable, 13 inch color TV in the room. Bathrooms were basic, old fixtures and not in the best sanitary conditions.... More
