The outside of the hotel looks very nice. As long if you are looking from a certain distance. That's the best thing of the hotel. The smell in the lobby and the elevator is not pleasant. The man at the reception did not speak a word of english. The room was okay, the bathroom clean but there was no hot... More

A friend whose opinion I respect recommended staying here. However, his stay occurred more than 15 years ago. Based on our experience, apparently a lot has changed. Of the two possible room options, we chose the more expensive one. While the square-footage was greater, there wasn't much else to justify the upgrade. On the 'plus' side, the linens and towels... Stayed in De Coq Hardi, What a deception. The goods were the breakfast and the traditional building in the middle of Verdun but the rest was not good at all. Everything in the room was dirty (used Q-tips on the floor) and everything was squeeking and peeping. The folding bed folded when you sat on it, the sanitary was totally... More

We stayed 1 night in December on our way from UK to Stwitzerland - so about 2/3 of the way. Very convenient. Garage is a walk away but secure. Family room was oldie-worldy, clean and good - with fabric wall covering. The hotel is old but has charm and the contents of an old church by the look of it... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, and had what I would describe as a typically French experience! I enjoyed it. We were part of quite a big group and there was some confusion at check in (one man who seems to work behind the desk was particularly amusing in his inability to sort out the problem, although we did eventually get... Verdun is not a prime tourist stopover so the hotel selection is not extensive. We chose this hotel for its location and were not disappointed. It is located by the bank of the River Meuse and the scenery is nice. The hotel is not modern, but very comfortable. Reception staff were accomodating and friendly. Their gourmet restaurant was closed for... More

Stayed for 1 night and would strongly recommend not stopping here. We had a so called superior room (37) which was dirty and had not had any makeover in years. We moved to a cheaper standard room (7) which was bearable but not good by any means. They seem surprised when I was complaining about the smell and the condition... More

It is strange that this city has practically no hotels - and certainly not one acceptable hotel - although Verdun has been an important trade center since medieveal times, especially for the Rhadanites' slave trade and castration of eunuchs. That atmosphere still hangs in the curtains of the old town around the Citadelle. When you ask the locals about the... More

Right in the centre of this small town on the corner of the main square,a quiet street and the river we found this hotel. Had a nice - though not too clean - room with romanic four poster bed with a rather bad matress. We stayed one night on our journey towards Paris and foud it a convenient place to... More

Booked for two nights but stayed only one. On arrival I booked the car into their garage which is some distance away. Cars cannot stop outside the hotel. The room was poor and one of the pillows was dirty and stained with what I hope was chocolate. I rang reception but the gentleman spoke French only. My wife, a fluent... More
