An overall very poor quality hotel considering the rating, parking was not on site and the general cleanliness and smell was appalling! The family room we stayed in was dated, dangerous and not fit for purpose! Would try somewhere else! More

Walked into the lobby of the hotel and immediately was assaulted by the smell of cat urine. Not an auspicious beginning. The room was large but very dingy looking. It obviously had not been upgraded in years. The bathroom h ad no real shower, only an extremely large bathtub with a handheld shower. Stayed there for 2 nights and never... More

This marked our second visit to Verdun and du Coq Hardi. Last year, I wrote a rather extraordinary review that now needs to be "tempered". Although du Coq Hardi is like stepping back into the 19th century and is situated right in the center of the ville, our second visit wasn't as appealing as our first. Parking is off-site, and... Thank goodness we stayed for one night only. When we got to our floor level, we knew it wouldn't be good as we were greeted w/ mold and old food stench. We're usually not very particular, but a place to stay must be clean, esp. the bathrooms. It was so hideously dirty that we had to line up the bathroom... More

We stayed at the hotel for only one night (thank goodness!). The beds are short and about 40 years old so they completely sag in the middle. The furnishings and bedding are old and they feel "grubby". The hotel has an odor and is dark. The toilet in one of our rooms broke on the first evening we were there... More

This hotel is right in the heart of Verdun - 20 minute walk from the train station, many of the historic sites and the shipping are in easy walking distance. It is clean but the decor has not been changed for maybe 20 years. More

We arrived here last night having driven all the way from lauterbrunen in Switzerland with this being our stop-over on route to Calais to return to the UK. The Walls are paper thin and we could hear the conversation of our neighbour - but only just - over the noise of the concert going on in the square. But if... More

Undoubtedly the worst hotel experience I've had the misfortune to encounter. I have traveled extensively in under developed countries, or to be politicaly correct, developing countries and not had an opportunity to observe first hand terrible service, ridiculous prices in a restaurant, small rooms, plus a difficult establishment to check into. This place is an expensive joke as a hotel.... More

The food at this brasserie associated with the hotel was an attempt to be a contemporary. It’s hard to believe that one could butcher a pizza type dish so badly. Simply stated, it was the worst meal that we have ever had in 15 years of visiting France. We have a home in France and are familiar with the extraordinary... More

Simple this - called this morning to book a room for two of us in the Chataeu. My french is poor, for which I apologised. Woman said nobody spoke English there. I asked if I could try to book the room and she said something in French and slammed the phone down. We were looking for a high-end stay at... More
