As most reviewers note, this hotel is adjacent to the castle, right in the city center. The staff is indeed nice and helpful. Breakfast is plentiful. But the place badly needs a major renovation. Stained carpeting throughout, fitness center permanently "closed for renovation", old-fashioned wallpapers and tired bathrooms. Air-conditioning in my room did not work, nor did the mini-bar fridge.... More

L'Aigle Noir seems tired. The lobby was nice enough and the staff - as much as there was of it -was helpful, but it seemed odd to enter and not have anyone at the door to greet us after we carried bags from the nearby underground garage. And the room had fading wallpaper and some visibly worn fabrics, which might... More

Just returned from 3 delightful days at Aigle Noir, despite appalling weather. We had a lovely suite de-luxe (214) with a large bathroom with walk-in shower, spa bath complete with light display, and wall TV, a large sitting room with sofa and wall TV, and a double bedroom with dual aspect, overlooking the carousel and Chateau grounds. The suite was... More

If there is style without pompousness Aigle Noir has it. Staff is wonderful, -always willing to help and make your stay as comfortable as possible. Rooms are not modern, but that's just part of the style. Bathrooms and other facilities are top standard, but decorations are a bit oldfashioned. as I said: it gives the place a certain look and... We stayed here on on way back to Paris from the Loire Valley. The room was very large. In fact there were several. You entered through a sitting area with a couch before proceeding to the bedroom and then bath. The decor was bizarre. Far from the neutral colors found in many hotels, our room had a bright floral pattern.... More

We stayed for a couple of nights last September, en route to the South of France. Our room was a deluxe double - all very nice - quite large. Free wi-fi + enormous TV. Room was very quiet, even though road facing. Room smelt a bit musty/drainy - staff brought some sort of infuser when I mentioned it to them... More

We first stayed at this hotel about 14 years ago when they used to have the restaurant open for evening dinner. Since then the rooms have been refurbished and ours (room 223) was very nicely decorated with with a sitting area with sofa bed (we are a family of 3 so was perfect), tv, refreshment facilities. It went through to... More

We spent 6 days at Aigle Noir Hotel visiting our family. The reception staff was uniformly friendly. Requests for extra towels, advice about a local community swimming pool and recommendations for restaurants were all handled promptly, professionally and in English. The buffet breakfast is a good value if you enjoy a large breakfast. If a croissant and expresso is more... More

Having left accommodation bookings to the last minute, whilst on vacation with three children, we chanced upon the hotel via the internet and we couldn't have been more satisfied for the 240 euros we spent for the night. Though we obviously ended up in the older wing of the hotel, (evidenced by sagging floors in the corridors), the place was... More
