No hot water, just tepid. Hair dryer also not working but another was provided. Room stuffy and air-conditioning off at this time of year. Why? Room was otherwise just OK. Hotel needs a bit of a spruce up overall. Location is on the edge of the town in the countryside, short drive but half hour walk.

We were able to pay extra for a room that overlooked the town and it was lovely. Others in our group were relegated to the parking lot view rooms and they were unhappy. Dinner was included in our tour and the food was good and the atmosphere open and friendly. As we passed through the town on our second night getting to the hotel, several of us asked to get off the bus to explore the town and stay for dinner. Little did we know that there were no taxi's and we had no way to get back to the hotel without an hours trek uphill. Since there were six of us at the restaurant, the owner offered to drive us himself and he actually made two trips and would not accept any payment. We would stay again if we visited on our own and would plan to spend an entire afternoon in the delightful town. If you want to be independent here, you would need your own car.

Arrived to have to wait for receptionist. As with the Mercure paper cups not glass or china in you room. Room however very Average possibly smaller than average, little grubby best thing is the shower gel! Long walk into town so would need to drive-unsecure parking, Opening hours advertised are not kept to by staff - came back for a last drink from town and bar closed 1/2 hour early when I asked the times for closing I was told advertised time so I asked why are you then closed early -no explanation. Pretty poor service given the room prices !

We use novotels all the time and have always been impressed. However this one needs some attention. Couldn’t get any food after travelling all day with kids as the restaurant was ‘’full’’ however we sat on the terrace all evening and it was half empty all night, we ended up eating a TA pizza in the garden. You really should let your guests know pre arrival if you can’t accommodate them for dinner. Air conditioning was pitiful, just about allowed for a nights sleep but not as it should be. The team we dealt with were all very good.

This is a convenient location to stay while visiting the castles along the Loire river by car. We really liked the view from the bar/restaurant and our daughter enjoyed the the pool. Staff was friendly. We didn’t think the hotel was very clean (really don’t like carpet in the room and the staircase stinks). The worst for us was that they were not able to offer us any food. After a long road trip we were looking forward to a dinner in the hotel and a good rest. However, the restaurant appeared to be fully booked, and they didn’t offer any alternative, no little snack at the bar, no room service. We had to go on the road again to find something to eat. I really don’t understand this.

This hotel close to the castles of the Loire Valley is supposed to welcome tourists from all over the world and give them an image of France they will remember, but in reality this hotel is low-end delivering a catastrophic quality-price ratio, despite the glitter they try to throw in your face (a swimming pool, mini-golf courses) this Novotel is empty and old. Sometimes you wonder if they are taking the piss, I had to sleep on a sofa bed (yes, if you are 3 you sleep on a sofa bed.) I had to make my bed myself! The mattress is so bad and old (there were yellow stains on the mattress.) Don't go there with more than 2 per room! The third bed (sofa bed) is a real disaster, you can fall while lying down (so unstable). The rooms are also for the price paid are very small, you could almost walk on them. Many details are also very frustrating like the sockets which are randomly placed in the rooms, one at the bottom and one at the top and in a room of 2, one will have a socket and the other a switch? Why not put two sockets? The management of the lights is also null, all on or all off, you will not have the choice. The finishing of the rooms is also to be reviewed, the roof of the bathrooms seems to be able to fall on your head at any time, the windows are also blocked. A hotel that in reality is not at all made for families, but much more for couples in their sixties. The breakfast is the WORST breakfast I've had in a hotel at this price not because it's particularly bad, but, because everything is bland and the atmosphere in the room is distressing. The breakfast empties immediately at 10:30 and you are asked to leave, because it's over now.The wifi as often is bad, so yes, we don't come for that, but having less than 3Mbps is a bit shameful, watching a YouTube video in 720 p can be complicated. This hotel needs to be renovated, rethink in its entirety to hope to give customers a good vision of the charm and courtesy French, to avoid.

Very good swimming pool and area. Good parking. Some good staff but some annoyingly untrained. Good breakfast at fair price. Dinner menu not expensive but very poor. Bar area dull. Bedroom decent size with good storage.

We stayed two nights at this hotel on the way to and from a fortnight in the Cevennes. The service we received from all the staff was excellent. Everyone smiled, was well informed and clearly wanted our stay to be enjoyable. Full marks! Both times we had a room with a beautiful view down over the town to the chateau. Each room was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Again full marks! This would have been a five star review had it not been for the variable quality of the meals. On the way down we had supper in the restaurant. My three choices were fine but my wife's were completely underwhelming. Breakfast the next day in the restaurant was chaotic. It was seething with groups and everything was running out. On the way back we decided to use room service. The menu and prices were identical and the meals arrived on time and hot enough. Sadly, the quality was again variable. The medallions of pork which I had had perfectly cooked on our way down were replaced by inch thick chunks of dry, overcooked meat of which my wife could eat only a fraction. Breakfast in our room, however, was just fine. We would visit again, seek our evening meals elsewhere and breakfast in our room.

Absolutely sordid and tiny room; No ventilation in the bathroom, which as soon as you take a shower turns into steam room, AC in the room makes a hugh noise and barely works, one of the bedside boards is broken and unusable, even the warbrobe is damaged... How can you give 4 stars to this! Frozen swimming pool, unheated, unusable.

we've been guests of Novotel Amboise for the last 5 years, on the way home from our country house in France. It'd a perfect place to have a good nigth's rest, parking is easy, and the city centre of Amboise (blessed with some good restaurants) is only a 15min walk away.
