I stayed at The Black Horse on business in February 2012 and found it to be of the highest standard for a small pub/hotel. Accomodation is chalet style cabins clinging to the side of a steep hill, so be warned those not nimble of foot, in quiet off the beaten track well landscaped grounds.Dinner and breakfast were of excellent quality... I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The bar is cosy, friendly, and serves fantastic food & drink, and they are so welcoming of dogs - as long as they are reasonably well behaved. The staff were helpful and easy going without being casual. The rooms (we stayed in two different ones) were clean, modern and comfortable. The location is... More

Have used this hotel for business and pleasure stays, food is gorgeous, local and seasonal though the breakfast could be a little more generous. The chalet style accommodation makes a great change from the run of the mill pub rooms and ensures a decent nights sleep with no noise from the bar areas. We have even decided to book our... More

The inn has a number of chalet rooms, which run down a bit of a hill. All have flower names such as rose, cornflower, heather...Although we ended up with Chickweed! Make sure you book at the restaurant if you want to eat there as it's very popular. The food is good, but in our opinion slightly overpriced for the level... More

We booked this Hotel based on generally positive Trivadvisor past reviews as a stop during our holiday to the UK from Switzerland. The rooms were a reasonable size, and very clean. Bunkbed was available for the kids, and the rooms were situated far enough away from the pub so that we had a peaceful nights sleep. The food in the... More

What a delight. Ancient old inn with charm good beer and food. Hidden behind are modern purpose built chalets. Best of both worlds. Staff excellent. More
