I must admit I had expectations of the Different Drummer, mainly due to the recent good reviews on Tripadvisor and the high price I had paid for an Executive Room. On arrival it looked nice outside, but parking was a little hard to find, down a private road at the rear of the hotel.. The parking itself was, I felt,... More

Below is from the Different Drummer website, and you know what? it's all true, so there is no point in me saying other than is is without doubt superb and at under £100 B&B for an upgraded room is well worth it Known as 'The Swan with Two Necks' until 1982, this inn has a noble history dating back to... The Different Drummer is such a welcome relief from the standard hotel chain! Each room is different, furnished tastefully and luxuriously, with some lovely pieces of art of furniture dotted throughout. Plus the breakfast is excellent: continental, English… all needs are catered for and it's always beautifully cooked. Staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, making you feel totally at home.... Stayed here several years ago and again this week and found the hotel as lovely as we remembered. We just love this place. The hotel is full of character, the bed was so comfortable and the lounge has the right atmosphere to enjoy a pre-dinner drink and a chat or just to sit and relax in. We stayed in room... More

We stayed in room 10, Excellent! Like staying in a old country manor. We have stayed in the worlds best hotels and while this was not a 5 star hotel, we absolutely loved it. We will definitely stay there again if the opportunity occurs. More

It really is full of character and always very comfortable; I sleep wonderfully as it is so quiet. But this time I ate in the annexed bistro/wine bar and when ordering food, the waitress thought I ordered 'veggies' when in fact I ordered 'wedges'. My stay was enhanced by the collapse of the ceiling during breakfast the following morning, due... More

We stayed for a family function so we were out until late so we weren't around the hotel much but we were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is very quaint & full of character but the room itself was warm and comfortable. We booked on laterooms.com and breakfast was not included so we paid extra for it but... More

My husband and I booked into the hotel as it was close to where a family celebration was taking place. From the moment we arrived, the owner looked after us and made us feel very welcome. The room was lovely, clean and pleasant with fresh fruit & chocolates. We will definitely stay in this hotel again. More

This could be a nice hotel if the owner bothered to repair the potholes (big puddles) that have to be negotiated between the car park and the hotel; heat the bedrooms (mine was cold in the evening); replace the mattresses (worst hotel mattress I've ever slept on); mend the jacuzzi; do something about the electrical buzzing sound in my room...
