On a postive side, The staff were very helpul, The room very basic, Bath still had dirt in the bottom of it, carpet dirty, quilt cover torn, and the bed was the most uncomfortable i have ever slept in................. Dreaded going down for breakfast because of the lack of cleaning we has noticed, and were not disappointed, the Manager could... more

Rooms are so so at best, checked in dropped my bags and was well, out on a tour. Check out the Cathedral while in town. Back to hotel and well down to pub, spent entire night there until essentially close rather than be in room. Food was terrific. more

We were a party of 12 aged between 4 and 73, but overall we were happy with the New Inn. Having read the reviews I was anxious about the choice, but would recommend it to others (though with certain caveats). On the plus side, the building itself is very olde world, full of charm and its location is very central... more

We stayed for one night, and could not fault the place. We booked last minute and were concerned by reports of unclean rooms, unfriendly staff etc, but had no choice as had to get something in the area. We were pleasantly surprised, on arrival i entered the bar, and they got someone to take our bag up to the 1st... more

Hopeless receptionist, dirty reception area, dirty carpets, dirty cups for tea in room and only one tea bag supplied, dirty towel rail where people using the toilet next to it had splashed and it had not been cleaned! one half used toilet roll supplied. Full english greasy fry up, not offered any alternative. Dark and dingy dining area, thought waitress... more

the hotel is situated in the middle of a pedestrian zone our group of 9 eventually found a car park on arrival to the new inn with all our luggage in tow, the receptionist told us there was no parking at the hotel but they do pay the cost of parking with a ncp car park about a quarter of... more

The hotel certainly has a lot of character, with wonky floors all over the place! The central courtyard is gorgeous, and our room was very clean and neat (not at all threadbare). We found the staff polite and helpful. The hotel is very central to the town centre, and as such we had to park our car in a NCP... more

I can't say enough bad things about this hotel. And I am not a finicky traveler. I am willing to put with a lot for charm and a unique experience. But not this place. The place was dirty and threadbare. There was no hot water in the morning so I made a polite mention of the problem to the staff.... more

This hotel is extremely old but has immense character it has a lovely central courtyard and a fantastic real ale bar. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the pigeons are a little annoying but looking around it is a problem all over the town. The room was very clean and breakfast excellent. There are meals served both in the bar... more

I stayed with a colleague on business for one night. The hotel, being built in 1430, is full of "Olde Worlde Charm", with a central courtyard and galleried landings all built in traditional oak beams. With this in mind, it will never reach the clinical standards of a modern square hotel with box-like rooms. My colleague's bedroom had a particularly... more
