Me an my fiancee stayed for one night on 24th April.We had a comfortable stay but were of the opinion the hotel needs brightening up,decor too dark for us,We are led to believe the hotel is getting a refurbishment.Definitely needs it.Also the bar needs spucing up,not enough atmosphere there.

Got a great late deal through Daily Telegraph/Great Escapes with £50 off per night on a superior room plus got an upgrade to the Highgrove Suite when we arrived. Retrospective Review - stayed February 2011 Great Hotel; its really romantic with the oldy worldy feel. The staff were really helpful and the rooms really clean. The bed was massive (four poster) and really really comfortable! The bar staff were really great too and nothing was too much trouble. Its been a while but I would love to return!

Had two nights booked here, but could only bare to spend one night. Both my husband and I were very disappointed especially as this was to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Booked single night through referral site. Four poster bed in superior room was firm and welcoming. Bathroom could have been a little brighter although this is in keeping with rest of hotel which has a 'dark styling' throughout. Good 'fresh' cooked breakfast. Portable heaters in breakfast room were a little off putting. Would book again though.
