Calling itself a hotel seems a little generous-- I stayed there because it was close to another hotel where a friend was hosting their wedding. I told them I would be back late and they gave me a key to the back door as apparently nobody would be at the desk at that time. When I got my taxi back... more

The weather was perfect, so we sat in the beautiful gardens. It was like going into a time warp, it's how hotels were when I was a child. Three meals a day and afternoon tea. The rooms are perfect, old with modernisations. It wasn't as near the sea as I would have liked, but we drove 5 minutes and we... more

Unfortunately there are not many like Hunters left out there anymore.... a reminder that a hotel is not just somewhere to put your head on a pillow. Full of fantastic charm and 'uniqueness' that makes you wonder why you would ever stay in a chain! Been before many years ago but one of those rarities that are 'even better' than... more

We stay there every year, it's oh so very familiar, old and charming. I pity the people who can't appreciate this. There may be dust, there may be some mold but it's a part of the hotel's charme. The important parts are clean. It's a bit like time-traveling, it would be a violation to renew or replace the furniture, which... more

We were looking for something near or in the Wicklow hills - Olde worlde, open fires with peat chucked randomly on them. Little bar, traditional styled restaurant so as we need not go out at night. We found it in Hunters. Exactly as per the website - Hunters website that is and we had a peat fire in our bedroom... more

My wife and I stayed here together with my brother and his wife. We stayed for three days finding that the welcome was wonderful, the accommodation of the best and the food to match it all. We will go again! more

Stayed here many years ago and nothing seems to have changed, except the price. A very expensive place to stay with no hot water in the morning. It's also quaint and peaceful, but whether it's worth it for such a threadbare existence is truly questionable. Staff sometimes unpleasant. Gardens lovely. No-one asked if we wished to reserve a table for... more

This hotel is for those looking for something different, walk through the front door and step back in time. We were greeted by a jolly lady keen to provide us with afternoon tea and scones in the residents lounge but we opted for the cosy lounge bar with open log fire. The furniture is quaint and old style and the... more

We stayed at Hunters because it was close to where my family came from originally and because we used to go there 20+ years ago. How things have changed. Ireland used to be famed for its friendly service, not at this hotel. The staff, mostly Eastern european, were not interested in you at all. We were travelling with our 20month... more

Hunters Hotel is about 30/40 minutes to the south of Dublin city. It is a traditional old inn, with a very determined emphasis on what used to be the only elements that mattered in a hotel - good food, friendly staff and comfortable rooms. It is located in a very old building which has changed little since the 1800s (apart... more
