Have just returned from an excellent weekend at the Gulabin Lodge at the Spittal of Glenshee. As a stag group of 20 people we found the setting, accommodation, activities and hospitality first class. Undoubtedly the weather just made it even better but the place is ideally set up to cater for big groups all year round. Rooms were great and... More

Anyone expecting this to be a hotel will be disappointed. It is Accommodation not a Hotel Service. It is like a Youth Hostel should have been- clean inexpensive rooms and self catering in a good kitchen and dining room, warm and homely sitting rooms and helpful staff. We stayed for thre nights with three adults and five kids in six... More

If you go expecting a luxurious hotel, you'll be disappointed. But if you think of it as a hostel, it's excellent. It's not absolutely a hostel - you'll never be sharing a room with strangers - but there are bunk beds (and doubles, up a ladder which is a bit scary in the dark). Rooms are warm and cosy and... This was my 3'rd visit to Gulabin lodge, and one of the 1st things mentioned was the water issue. Coming from the real world, if there was a serious health issue, the council would have closed the place down. Therefore I left with just a possible small boost to my immune system. The Lodge excels in group accommodation, where the... More

To start with, the lodge itself has a pair of fantastically comfortable front rooms (the main image used to sell the lodge). There are real log fires you can create and it's surrounded by miles and miles of beautiful highland Scotland. To top it off, if there's snow you can ski down the mountains. However that's where the pros ended... More

Please take this review seriously; this accommodation is not for families with toddlers, in fact even without children the rooms are rather claustrophobic. I banged my head into the ceiling several times and almost fell into a sink while climbing down the very steep ladder. The two sitting rooms available are dark, smelly and dusty, not a place I would... More

Sorry to hear that you did not like the room you had booked. We have many families who stay with us and all thoroughly enjoy the family bunk rooms. It was shame you did not highlight the problem during your stay as we could have looked to allocate you another room. More

Just back from a fantastic weekend at Gulabin Lodge. We have been going to the lodge for a summer weekend with our family ( 25+, all ages) for the past four years. Each year we are delighted with the improvements. The kitchen is well equiped, the dining room - light and spacious, the two lounges ideal for our needs, the... More

I visited as part of a Spice group Ultimate Challenge weekend and it did not disappoint. We crammed in 10 activities over 2 days! The accommodation is very good for an outdoor pursuits base. The bedrooms are very comfy, a little cosy, but we were not crammed in and had plenty of space for our things. There are also drying... More

Had a lovely time staying at Gulabin Lodge with a school group - the owners have done loads of work upgrading the place. It's tastefully decorated, you are made to feel very welcome and it's a great base for outdoor activities (summer or winter!) More

We stayed at Gulabin Lodge last weekend as part of a Spice UK adventure - Ultimate Challenge. We got a warm welcome from Darren the owner who explained everything we would be doing over the weekend. The rooms are basic but for storing your gear and getting your head down thats all you need. 2 lounges with log fires are... More
