Had previously stayed at the resort and been very happy with the hotels and services provided. However this time we were booked in to the Academy and upon arrival in our room I was disgusted by the state of the room. The bath had green slime and the bed divans looked like somebody had been sick on the sides and... More

Stayed in a family room for an Easter Break. Had to check in at the conference centre on the other side of the complex due to Academy Hotel reception being unmaned ..... Why ? Breakfast was also in the conference centre a buffet help yourself which would have been fine but some trays looked like they had been lying for... More

The Hotel is located within central Aviemore close to the main shopping area and local facilites. A quick jump over the three foot fence leads you into the rear of Tesco or a slightly longer walk brings you around to the main shopping area. The facilities on-site are good, cinema, leisure centre, shop, restuarants, cafe etc. The only down side,... More

I can't understand why people complain about this hotel. Just returned from a two night Easter break. The rooms are fresh and clean and okay the lobby carpet is a pretty dated tartan one but who spends time in the lobby? The swimming pool is by far one of the best hotel pools in Scotland and the staff are all... More

Stayed here for 2 nights from 31st March to 2nd April. We found our hotel and went to check in at the reception but there was no-one there. There are no notices on display so we used the phone there to call the concierge. It was only then that we were told that there is a central check-in & reception... More

Stayed here for 4 nights and found the Academy very comfortable. Only a 2 minute walk to breakfast, excellent choice and good service with tables being cleared very quickly and the buffet always replenished even they were busy.Family entertainment in the evening excellent in the Academy, with the two ladies who ran the kids club, very professional and keen to... Ok, I know it said 3 star and it was all we could get at the resort, but I was expecting travel lodge standard. I was not impressed with this run down dingy cramped family room. Thank goodness it was only for 3 nights. I would not return. The resort however was great and the pool and facilities were excellent. More

The Macdonald Academy hotel is to be avoided. From the rudest staff I have ever come across who shout at their customers to corridors with plentiful damp patches all over the room. The decor is dated, shoddy and in desperate need of patching up. Breakfast at the food court is passable, but a 10 minute walk away from the hotel.... More

After reading a lot of these reviews I was very worried about our half term break with our 2 boys (aged 10 & 11 years). We needn't have been. Yes the hotel is dated, yes the heating creaks a bit but to be honest the room was very clean & for the amount of time we spent in it -... More
